Making the Most of a Stateside Holiday
As the third largest continent in the world, stretching from the Arctic Circle in the North to the Rio Grande and Mexico in the South, Northern America has a lot to offer as a holiday destination.
However, with such a vast country to deal with knowing where to start your adventure can be tricky. To help, here are a few tips on how to make the most of your stateside holiday.
Check your documents before you go
Choosing a destination and picking a hotel are one thing, but if your documents aren't in order, there's a good chance you could be put straight back on a plane home the moment you set foot on American soil.
For a start, you'll need at least six months left on your passport to enter the country. You'll also need to complete a security check online and print out your pass certificate to present when going through customs.
Depending on your background and history, there may be additional checks or visas that you'll need. If you're unsure, contact your holiday organiser to get professional advice on what is needed.
Don't try to see it all
With so much on offer, it's easy to get carried away and try to cram as much into your trip as possible. If you do, there's a good chance you won't get to see anything properly, making your holiday somewhat redundant.
Before you get on the plane, pick a few different activities and trips that you definitely want to do, but remember to give yourself a few days off to just soak up the atmosphere. Make the most of your time by seeing what you can, but remember you can always return on another trip to visit a different area, rather than trying to cover this expansive landmass in one lengthy holiday.
Take a road trip
A good way to see a chunk of your local surroundings and experience something quintessentially American is to take a road trip. Whether you go for a day, a week or even a month, hire yourself a classic car, hit the highway and turn up the stereo!
Get close to nature
North America is home to some great cities but also some fantastic nature. Make sure you don't miss out on meeting some of the more quirky locals during your trip by journeying deep into the natural environment and discovering the wildlife that resides there.
Holidays in Florida are ideal for seeing some of the natural characters America has to offer so why not take a trip the Everglades to meet some crocodiles or one of the other many reserves and parks to do a bit of exploring? America is perfect for all sorts of holidays, from sun-soaked beach breaks to Romantic getaways and adventure holidays, so check your passport, plan your itinerary and get travelling!
